Some careers are carefully planned. Others unfold in ways that only make sense looking back. For Dr. Adrienne O’ Connell, it started with a love for science. At UC Berkeley, she found herself drawn to biology and neurochemistry, curious about how the body works and why. That curiosity carried her into medical school at Boston University, where she explored everything from ob/gyn to dermatology.

At one point, she thought her future would be in reconstructive plastic surgery, but something didn’t feel right. The hours, the lifestyle, the pace-it wasn’t the life she envisioned for herself- even if it looked right on paper.

So she kept going. Through every rotation, every experience, one thing kept quietly pulling her back-skin, science and the visible transformation of helping someone feel better in their own skin. After completing her residency and working in emergency medicine, she began building something of her own. Slowly stepping into aesthetics while still working in the ER, balancing both worlds at once. And then...COVID hit.

Like so many others, there was uncertainty; she was pregnant and the world was shutting down. It would have made sense for everything to slow down, even stop. But it didn’t. Because her practice was medical, she was able to stay open and instead of slowing down, it grew.

Patients kept coming and the demand increased. Everything she had been building quietly in the background was starting to gain real momentum. It was one of those moments that aligned when it was supposed to. It feels like confirmation.

Today, Adrienne O’ Connell has built a practice that reflects everything she values-science precision and truly understanding the skin. That standard led her to create her own skincare line, SKINformed, developed out of a desire for formulations that deliver real results without compromising skin health.
